The Alchemist
HELLO, HEY, HI THERE…
WELCOME
I thought I’d start my first blog by introducing myself and telling you a little bit about my story. So if this kind of thing bores you, please feel free to give this one a skip. After this personal blog post I intend to keep them all health/nutrition related – so don’t worry.
I love to travel, (just recently returning from a six month stint travelling around America, Canada and Europe), cook (and eat), read, visit the beach, hike and explore in the hills.
So, how did I get here?
Firstly, My name is Kelly and I’m the founder, mother, and head witch of Alchemy Natural Health. I decided to study Naturopathy after my own struggles with Anxiety, Depression and Endometriosis – this all really started in year 12 for me (great time for things like this to start, right?).
After year 12 I found myself working full time in retail, which I enjoyed but the anxiety and depression still loomed, as well as this unknown almost constant pain. I decided that this was no way to live and that I wanted some answers. With my Mum in tow, we set off on what I call the biggest game of cat and mouse. From being told I was ‘crazy’, that the pain was just ‘phantom’ or ‘just in my head’ and being taken off almost every food group imaginable I was just about ready to give up.
I felt crazy.
I was beginning to think that maybe all these professionals were right and it was in fact, just in my head.
Nothing seemed to be making a difference and my health was only declining further. Fortunately, I hadn’t given up and neither had my mum – she had one more avenue to explore, an Integrative Doctor, recommended by one of her friends. We booked an appointment and off we went to see him. What a breath of fresh air he was. He was adamant that he was going to get to the bottom of this for me, and he did. He conducted numerous investigations and tests all while actually LISTENING to me and what I had to say – not only could I feel/see his passion about health and his job but I could see that he actually cared about my health and wanted it to improve, just as much as I did. In that moment, and as my health began improving and becoming more manageable everyday –that’s when I knew I wanted to be that person for others, just as he was for me.
I researched how to get into Medicine, Psychology and finally Naturopathy – which is when I fell in love with this beautiful and holistic profession. As I read the course guide, and researched more and more about Naturopaths and Natural Medicine, I was certain that ‘it’ was what I was destined to do.
Since the start of my degree in 2014, my passion for health and natural medicine has only continued to grow. In a weird way, I am grateful for my health struggles - because without them, I would have never ended up doing what I love and helping all of you beautiful people.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me.
